The new Maison for all Comté cheese lovers

The remarkable Maison du Comté architecture revisits, in a contemporary style, the traditional framework of the Haut-Doubs and Haut-Jura farms.

It’s three distinct buildings, visible from the Route de Lons, echoing to the three links of this solidarity trade: the milk producer, the cheese maker and the affineur, join forces in the heart of the Jura Mountains since 700 years!

The new interpretation center of Poligny offers the general audience a superb immersive journey into the world of Comté cheese.

Eco-construction and local wood

The framework of 3 000m2 of buildings,  realise by local carpenter, is made by almost exclusively wood from Jura, saw and transform localy.

The spruce used for the framework of the three buildings comes from the forests of the Haut-Jura region.

The Maison du Comté is also equipped with a geothermal heating system, supported by Ademe and the FEDER. LED and low-energy lighting is triggered by motion detection. Infiltration ditches have been created to allow rainwater to drain into the environment.
